    Re: Evil Eberron Campaign

I didn't log the time we played before last, so we'll see how much I remember.

The group continued on, luckily taking the long way around a frozen lake and avoiding a plunge with their heavy cart, and ultimately coming upon their destination, a winding path deep into a pocket of icy mountains.

Early on they encountered some half white dragon manticores, which they defeated and picked up a few items from some caves that the flying Rayve helped them to get to.  Around this time, they realized the ghost was angry that Scott's character had taken the eggs of the destriach.  They figured out that the destriach had killed the dwarf barbarian and as vengeance, the ghost wanted the eggs destroyed.  Doing so freed them from further attacks by the ghost.

A few days later, they passed through the gargantuan remnants of a large gateway that had long been destroyed.  Past the gateway a spiraling path lead deep into the swirling mists of an ancient crater.  Their guide, a dwarven scholar who possessed strong divining magic, seemed to be rather distressed, quaffing an unknown potion and fingering a magical ring, but saying nothing other than for everyone to keep their guards up.

They guided the oxen and cart deep into the cart, finally finding large, glowing purple shards which were the remnants of some monstrous disc held by two life-size obsidian statues of great wyrm dragons.  As they loaded their cart with the valuable crystals, having been promised to have any such things purchased by The Twelve prior to coming here, a shock seemed to go through each party member, making each person more aware of their surroundings, but having no more effect.

Before much more thought could be spent on the strange effect of the crystal, the air crystalized into a thick billowing, icy fog, rendering the group blind, and for most of the party, struggling to even remain standing on the suddenly icy surfaces.  Moments later, great beating wings could be heard muffled through the thick fog and a sudden cone of freezing cold ripped through the party.  IceFang had come.  The party was blind and had seen little more than a large shape in the fog, and a piercing red light that had blasted out from it shortly after the blast of cold.

The dwarf scholar, mostly unaffected by the cold, leaped onto the largest shard he could and muttered a command word, causing his ring to flash and both he and the crystal vanished.  The dwarf had left the party to face the great wyrm white dragon alone.

The battle was long and tough, nearly resulting in the death of a few different party members.  Strangely though, as the dragon fought, it seemed to get weaker, each time it used its most powerful attacks the dragon would seem to be in great pain.  Ultimately the dragon fell to the parties combined attacks and some sort of strange weakness.

From the ruined heap that was the great wyrm Icefang, they found a magical amulet.  Grimfang (the astral stalker) picked it up and promptly put it on, sure of her ability to handle whatever the amulet could throw at her.  The amulet promptly sank a spike deeply into Grimfang's heart anchoring it permanently on her chest and feeding her great stamina (+6 constitution).  The party has begun to look at her strangely, worried what price she will have paid for the power of the amulet and thinking back on the sickness of the great wyrm white dragon...

After that, the party, feeling betrayed by the dwarf, searched for the dragon's lair, visions of a great wyrm's hoard in their eyes.  They found it sure enough, though it was icy, and held many dangers of its own just due to the area in which it was created.  Heading deeper, they found a great underground lake, where the dragon had stored its hoard on an island.  Unfortunately it looked as if the hoard had already been robbed and while there was great wealth, it was mostly in the form of leftover coin, amounting to around 10,000 in wealth.  Further thought made the party realize they had not caused all the damage to IceFang, other damage looked like it had been from another dragon, leading the party to the conclusion that the hoard had been robbed by another dragon.

The party left out shortly thereafter, heading for the quickest path home, forgetting the warning of the dwarf scholar that another blizzard was going to hit soon.  Sure enough, the blizzard hit, and they had to deviate out of their path and get back to the same cave they had used for cover last time.  Nothing happened this time, though it did cost them valuable time.  Unfortunately one of their oxen got sick and died while they took shelter in the cave, making their going even slower as they headed back out.

The journey was long with only 1 ox, another blizzard coming before they reached the next town, this time with no cave for shelter.  They continued on, mostly blindly, and before they the storm ended, Mark's sorcerer almost perished from the cold, causing them to setup shelter and just try and wait it out.  Their efforts met with success, for soon enough the storm ended and the party made it into a small hunting village with the sorcerer around 1/4 health.

They found out that the dwarf had already come through long ago, assuming that the party was dead, and hurried and left, apparantly taking their waiting ship with him at the next village (they found that out from the guy who had taken the dwarf there and came back).  They bought another ox and traveled on.

They got to the port town soon enough, but only a small fishing boat offered to bring them back to Khorvaire.  They decided to wait for a cargo ship, the Shining Tusk, owned by Captain Jenek.  Jenek asked for a large amount of gold to hire appropriate protection for the journey, due to the value of their cargo, but the party offered to act as guards instead, journeying very cheaply.

Sure enough, the ship finds itself stopped, grasped in the clutches of a large kraken.  The kraken demanded tribute for the ship to pass through unharmed, which the party and the captain paid.  Soon after, the party, suspecting foul play, scanned the captain's thoughts, revealing that the captain had some sort of alliance with the kraken and would collect the golder at some point in the future.  The party tried to ally with the captain, but other than getting vague directions to meet with someone named WhisperDawn in the poor part of Stormholme if they wanted work, they got nothing.

The party, refusing to let it go, decided to assassinate the captain, waiting until the ship was empty after they had docked in stormholme.   All crew but one (left as a guard) left, Rayven and Grimclaw snuck back on board and disabled the guard silently.  Scott watched for trouble from the dock.  They snuck in and Rayven nearly disabled the sleeping captain, but a paraylyzing throat dart from Grimclaw ended any further resistance from the captain.

Some fould end would have happened to the captain right there, but a group of heavily robed individuals began approaching the ship.  Scott watched helplessly as the group boarded the ship.  Rayven and Grimclaw heard the commotion and made a quick retreat, but a mistep by Rayve alerted the taller being.

Suddenly madness ensued, the robes being cast aside and revealing WhisperDawn, a dolgaunt, and his dolgrim minions.  WhisperDawn assumed that it was a setup, which was confirmed (in his mind) when Scott tossed a globe of darkness on the group.  Unfortunately WhisperDawn needed no sight to see and began barking commands to his minions while he personally came after the caster.

The three split in three directions, Scott fleeing into the safety of stormholme, Rayve fleeing the launch of multple crossbows, and Grimclaw diving into the water. Later, when Scott came back, the ship had been set afire, presumably by WhisperDawn for his perceived treachery.

At this point, the group had their valuables sitting in a House Kundarak vault while they attempted to negotiate travel to The Twelve's base in Karnath, most likely via House Lyrandar.
