Re: Nova's Keep on the Shadowfell 4e Game (Part 1)

OOC: I want to check my religion skill regarding death cults in this area 10 (I think my mod was +8 but can't remember the site with my character sheet on it.)
OOC: I also want to check perception even if it is untrained. 23 - checking to see if anything would make me believe she has false motives.

"I agree that we simply cannot have members of a 'Death Cult' running loose in our countryside. What can you tell me of this cult? What of the travelers who brought you this information? Are they trustworthy?"

Cyril is visibly agitated by the thought of evil cultists roaming the land.

EDIT: WOW! Mouse over the numbers I rolled up top, and you can see the dice rolled...that's a SWEET system for a forum!

    Shaggy

I drains my pitcher of beer and holds it up, not good exactly but not bad compared to some I have had inside me belly, well it was pretty good I grudgingly admit.  I hold it up till the waiter takes the hint but my attention is on the woman, her face, her hands and my friend Cyril.  He seems to be concerned, well if he is concerned than I will be too, he's smarter than I am about most things but I still can't wait to go out and turn an evil cultist into a good cultist.  What in the name of Moradin is a cultist I wonder, is that like a Druid?

) Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

OOC: I'm pretty sure this is actually an insight check, and not a perception check if you're trying to figure out if somebody is lying. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Re: Nova's Keep on the Shadowfell 4e Game (Part 1)

OOCOOC: No, IWD is set in the FR, I'm setting this in a homebrew setting since I didn't like the Ebberon adaptation of this mod. I can give you more information on the setting if you want, but its ebberon influenced. About the only things that would matter in this mod is that Ebberon races exist alongside the 4e onces, and that Necromancy and DIabolism are both outlawed in most lands (As "Dark Magic").

Re: Nova's Keep on the Shadowfell 4e Game (Part 1)

OOCOOC: Most of the pregens are here. Any other legal 4e character is allowed as well. If you find after a combat or two you don't like you character we can talk: Its a new game system so I don't want anyone stuck in a character they don't like.

Your religion is +5: You can't remember any death cult legends abou this area.

You can now always try a skill, trained just gives you a much better bonus: And that is indeed insight, however you have +3 to both. You are ABSOLUTELY certain she has not told you a SINGLE falsehood this whole time. Also you now have a 'read' on her and get a free check the next time she lies to you and +2 on your next check on her.

"The travellers are a group of merchants and a couple of young clerics from my church, unfortunately it took a very long amount of time for there message to reach us since the message was waylaid by bandits en rout, and part of the message was lost, which is why we have so few details. We don't even know how they could tell they where death cultists, as that part of the message was destroyed."

Sorry for the many posts, I like having the post I'm responding too onscreen at the same time I'm writing my response.

As for price, upon compleation you'd be paid 250 gold crowns, with the possiblility of another 100 crowns

    OOC: I'm not trying to bargain.... 250 + 100 = 350

    Shaggy

Saluting the lady with my fresh drink I stifle my belch

"Good Lunch.  Bandits I understand, Cultist, no.  What a death cultist, new race, new religion, bandits work for death cultist?"

A lot of talking for me, I could no longer hold back belch, little belch but felt good.  If I am going to fight a cultist I want to know what it is.

Re: Nova's Keep on the Shadowfell 4e Game (Part 1)

Shaggy: Well, a cultist is a worshiper of a dark god, demon or devil. They do all sorts of unwholsome things ranging from human sacrifice to rites that cause volcanoes to erupt or earthquakes thta level cities....or well, you get the idea. Usually the best thing to do with a dark cult is to extermintate it.

    Aabra:
Pleased at the sound of a possible 350 gold coins my attitude changes quite a bit. "Well, that much gold will buy you first rate service. Please tell me everything I need to know about this keep and how to want to do business."

I don't have the exact location of the keep, but I can tell you it lies in the immediate vicinity of the town of Winterhaven. When you return with the map you will get your pay. Now I am quite familiar with the architectural style of late Nerath so I will likely be able to identify a forgery, if you return with proof of the keeps purpose I will pay you the additional money. If you have speculation, suggestion, conjecture or partial proof I will pay you part of the amount, likewise I'll pay you a pratial amount for a partial map. Is this to your satisfaction?

Re: Nova's Keep on the Shadowfell 4e Game (Part 1)

That sounds just fine to me. I'll be back before you know it with the entire keep mapped. I don't like doing partial jobs so expect a complete one. Winterhaven is a bit of a strange place from what I hear but it wouldn't be worth visiting if it was just ordinary. I'll take my leave then once you give me some materials to make the map with.

Grips my drink hard to stop the trembling in my hand, my people live and work in tunnels and are no stranger to the tremblings of the earth.  A people who have a God who makes the earth tremble large.....I looks at my friend, my voice low with anger, my face blank but I can't control my voice.

"We will do it, tell her we will do it."

Alright, what are each of your travel plans, anyone on horseback? or are you all on foot?
