Re: Setting up a 4e game

Are you playing Army? I don't seem to have a character for you....

I don't mind if your not, but if you are I'd like to get started.

Aww man you made me pink?!  LOL   If you've got a different rogue miniature that..... isn't pink then I think I'd prefer that.  I'm a guy damnit! Big Smile  If not, then it's not a big deal.

    Is this ok: http://www.flickr.com/photos/canageek/2604405661/in/set-72157605769778788/

Also can you set yourself an avatar? You can use the mini or anything else but it helps me tell who the post is from.

Done.  Hopefully my new avatar should help you realize who's posting.  :)

Re: Setting up a 4e game

According to my book store it will be a minimum of 2 weeks, maybe 3 before I see a book but I did get the Pdf file, thank you very much.  Used the pregen Dwarf fighter since a human fighter wasn't available so my god becomes Moradin instead of Pelor, everything else stays the same.

Have been trying for 2 days to get an Avatar up but I keep getting an error message.  Is this something you computer geeks can do for me?  I don't care what it is....Well don't give me a politician, I have a weak stomach.

I might be grumpy but I am pretty, whatcha gonna do about it?

Re: Setting up a 4e game

Click on your name above then select the avatar tab.  There you can copy an url to a picture of your avatar or you can upload a picture directly.  You might be trying to upload a file that is too big however so that could be why you're getting an error.  I didn't have a good picture or anything and I also didn't know your name... but I still spent the 30 seconds to make this up for ya.  Save it to your hard drive and upload it if you want.  Or if you want me to change the name or whatever I can do that too.

Re: Setting up a 4e game

This is what I keep getting
An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

My character's name is Shaggy Potz, a Dwarf fighter, that name or Old Grump is fine by me.

I copied the picture you made, put it in my adobe file, clicked on my avatar, hit browse, found the picture and got the above result, the same as every other avatar I tried.  The avatar I was going to use is the same one I am using on My Space and it went up fine there.  I really miss my clay tablets and sharp sticks, role playing I can do but this keyboard is going to kill me.

I might be grumpy but I am pretty, whatcha gonna do about it?

Re: Setting up a 4e game

Ok, try this instead.  First highlight this URL and select edit -> copy

    http://www.avatarimage.net/imagehosting/files/zp0p7jz3gwr5a2c501nc.jpg

Next click in the top click on your name to gain access to your profile.  "Signed in as Old Grump"

    Select the Avatar Tab.

Make sure Enable Avatar is set to "YES"

If Anything at all is in the Avatar Url box - delete it.  For some unknown reason this box is very small.

Once the box is empty - put your curser in it and select edit -> paste

Then click save.... and hopefully it should work!

Re: Setting up a 4e game

Thank you, maybe it was the url causing the problem, give me a simple radar to work on, this computer thing is hard on fossilized brain.

I might be grumpy but I am pretty, whatcha gonna do about it?

Re: Setting up a 4e game

Well, I have weeds to pick before the heat of the day, but I'll post the intro for the rest of you guys in a  bit. It seems you all will be getting the same intro so I'll probably just do it in the game thread.

Re: Setting up a 4e game

    Hi,

Sorry for the late delay in posting. Yes I would still be interested in playing and I would be willing to play a wizard. I will place up my character sheet on Monday as I am currently at my mom' place so I do not have any of my books here.

    Cheers,

Ok, first post is up: http://forums.dndorks.com/forums/804263/ShowThread.aspx#804263

I'll introduce new characters as I get descriptions-- You don't need stats for the RP, and I don't mind if you use a pregen until you finish rolling up your character.

Re: Setting up a 4e game

Here's an IRC chat I had that outlines the setting somewhat, it doesnt' have much effect on the adventure but it may if you stay around for a bit after this one ends:

    <Canageek> Yo
<gruegirl> could you give me the basics of the setting
<Canageek> Its pretty basic as it doesn't effect the mod much
<Canageek> The known world is in a rouge hourglass/cresent moon type shape
<gruegirl> who's in power around where we start?
<Canageek> The far south is mostly apandoned jungel, with runs and such in it from before people migrated north
<Canageek> in the mid south is farland that aside from goblis and cluts and such is mostly peaceful
<Canageek> now the  army is in the north so you don't want to travel alone unless your reasonbly well armed and know how to use your weapons as most bandits will leave you alone then
<Canageek> caravans are the primary method of travel and communication
    <gruegirl> which army?
<Canageek> The far north is an icy wastland filled with barbarian tribess --yes I know how cliche that is
<Canageek> There are two large nations: The Alliance and the Empire
<Canageek> The Alliance is a leage of Necromancers and Diabolits that rule the nroth between the Icy wasts and the Narrows  - The thin part of the hour glass
<Canageek> the Alliance nominally controls all of the souther half, but in reality they only activally control the top 1/3 or so
<Canageek> They are a mostly benelovent empre composed of variuse dutchies and fifedoms
<Canageek> the futher south you get the weaker the control gets though most of the people pay at least lip service to the monarch
<Canageek> thats about all I have as I've never had enough people intersted in a gamme long enough to find out the details
    <gruegirl> k
<Canageek> OH, and theres some mountain ranges and things but thats not really important right now
<Canageek> I'm ravamping the setting to have some elemetns from Ebberon in it as well as some 4e stuff
    <gruegirl> k
<Canageek> For now it doesn't really matter as I'm running KotS and it all takes place in a small area
    <Canageek> in the southland
<Canageek> I'm thinking the Alliance has elements of the Teifling Empre in it
<Canageek> and a number of Dragonborn famiies are promoint in the Empires ranks
<gruegirl> I'll be a Teifling jungle girl, what roles are in the party right now?
<Canageek> Right now a copule of people are playing two characters since we lack people
<Canageek> So we have a Cleric, Wizard, Rouge and Fighter
<Canageek> We might be getting another player
<Canageek> and one player was not a huge fan of being the cleric but they agreed they needed at least one or a warlord
    <gruegirl> I'll be a cleric
    <gruegirl> oh wait, a druid!
    <gruegirl> I'll be a druid
    <Canageek> Cool
<gruegirl> so I'm a tiefling jungle girl  druid
<Canageek> ...what druid are you useing? A fan druid?\
    <Canageek> its 4e
<Canageek> Here is the setup thread: http://forums.dndorks.com/forums/thread/804140.aspx
<Canageek> and the game thread: http://forums.dndorks.com/forums/thread/804263.aspxhttp://forums.dndorks.com/forums/thread/804263.aspx
    <Canageek> bleh
    <Canageek> http://forums.dndorks.com/forums/thread/804263.aspx
    <gruegirl> oh wait it's on a forum?
<gruegirl> dammit I don't like play by post...
    <gruegirl> that's PBP... I get it now...
    <gruegirl> sowwy
<Canageek> Ok, you mind if i post part of the convo to give info on the world setting?
    <gruegirl> no prob
