Hahaha!!! First again! This feels pretty good!
Making Ethan roleplay seems like an ample punishment after he's been such a jerk all this time...
AND I WANT THE ILLITHID BACK! *sob*
I'm sad that they're using 4e and they aren't even making fun of it. Especially considering how much they screwed everything up real bad when they released 4e. It just won't be the same without the old Ethan. That brain-sucking obsession. That tentacley face. It just doesn't seem right!!
The absence of the illithid leaves a sort of emptiness in my DnDorks heart, one even greater than when they left Meepo standing on the dock. "They be back." No, buddy. Sorry.
Speaking of kobolds, why hasn't anyone noticed how weird they look now? Those little cut-and-paste green spineheads can't be the same species as those digitigrade-legged red ones that used to show up so often! Those were so much cuter! They have GOT to switch back to 3.5. That one's better and they have all the books anyway.

What? C'mon, 4e is much better than 3.5! All the "little things" and some of the huge things have been fixed. I, for one, welcome our 4e overlords, who are much less tyrannical about the laws they put in place as opposed to our previous lords from 3.5, who are now, thankfully disposed of.

4e does rub some people the wrong way in how it handles the relationship between the rules and the fiction, but overall it really is a more soundly designed game.  Really, other than that dissonance, I can't see where they "screwed up" anything, even subjectively.

As for Ethan, this isn't the first time he's been through this sort of thing.  He spent a fair amount of time as a female kobold, if you'll recall.

I think the main reason I'm so opposed to 4e is because it's so strange and forgeign in the way it  works, and all the weird new classes and races. I've been with 3.5 for very nearly my entire DND career, so I'm just flabbergasted at how many things they changed in 4e. I heard they removed all the character stats from the 4e Monster Manual. No longer is there an easy way to play as a monster. And eliminating the gnome as a race??? C'mon! The new races just don't seem to work as normal characters, and in my own opinion, a lot of the new classes are REALLY stupid.
What also bothers me is all that junk on the character sheets. Epic...destiny...what is all that garglemesh?!? I just don't get it, and it's a (very messed up) far cry from the 3.5 I know so well. Meh.
