Thunderspire - roads to no where campaign 4E
His home destroyed, his family murderered. In his dying moments, a pact made. Reborn in fire and death, vengence taken mortal form.....
Gabriel lived all his life in the peaceful farming village of Dunmarten. Life was hard but good, the people friendly and kind to their neighbours, helping each other in times of drought and blight, sharing what they had.
All of this ended the day the Dark Warlord Estebar and his Horde decended upon their lives. Gabriel and the other farmers and craftsmen fought back, but their pitchforks or homemade weapons were no march for blades, arrows and armour of the Horde. The village was raided and razed, the humanoid soldiers reveling in the slaughter. As Gabriel lay bleeding from a sword wound to his belly, a pair of orcish warriors tormented the dying man by trapping his wife and young daughter within their modest home and setting it ablaze.
As Gabriel sobbingly listened to their dying screams his gentle heart was filled with unholy hatred for the orcs, goblinoids, and overall their Teifling leader. As his eyes blurred in the moments before his death a vision came to him. The entity within the vision identified itself as Arioch the Fallen, Lord of Vengence. He was offered a choice: Join his family in death or be given new life and the power to strike down those that had destroyed all he held dear.
Gabriel, so full of newfound hatred chose vengence and his pact was made. In exchange for his revenge, he would be born anew as an agent a vengence, a harvester of damned souls.
The laughing orcs gaped in astonishement as Gabriel's body rose before them, unholy fires sealing the wound in his belly. Unnatural vigor filled his form and dark witchfires burned in his eyes. Raising his hand the orcs were engulfed in blazing hellfire, burning as his family had burned, their life essence feeding his power as their souls were sent hurtling to hell and his new Master's waiting embrace......
After scouring the broken remains of his villiage and mercilessly slaughtering the few goblin straggelers he found, Gabriel turned his back on his former home and left his villiage to burn, seeking out Dark Souls to increase his powers, so that one day his vengence can be completed.
