Kirii Antath

Kirii was born and raised on an Ukari "reservation" on Istakhr. Unlike many off-world Ukari, his father was fanatic in his conviction to live according to the "old ways" of the Ukari on their home planet Kordeth. This meant he raised all his children underground, in total darkness, until the age of six, and taught them fluency in the strange Ukari tatoo-script as soon as they were old enough to understand his lessons. He was so fundamentalist in his approach to life that even other, local Ukari found him and his family strange and old-fashioned, something the old Ukar often deplored. But if he deplored the liberalist mind-sets of his fellows, he despised the Empire. In it, he saw the destroyers of Ukari culture and their traditional lifestyle, and he was as uncooperative towards the al-Malik rulers as he could be and still avoid execution for fomenting dissent.

Needless to say, this way to handle yourself is less than prudent in the circumstances of the conquered Ukari, and the family was very poor. Day-to-day livng was a struggle for subsistence, made worse by the prosperity of their more forward-thinking neighbors, and doubly so by the disgusting opulence displayed by the rare nobles to grace the reservation with their presence. This made Kirii very bitter, and filled him with an obsession to get out of the reservation, away from the traditional lifestyle, which he came to see as a futile existence, with no future but fruitless toil and a wasted life. To get release for his growing frustration, he channeled it outward, towards hurting other people. He found another practittioner to teach him Jox boxing, a pastime his father actually approved of. For Ukari, it doesn't get much more traditional than viciously hurting people in a ritualistic fashion. With his growing frustration and obsession having found another release and a new direction, and with a healthy dose of talent, Kirii became very, very good at Jox Kai Von. So good, in fact, that when the Scraver Hendric Mosly, a bandit from Malignatus, saw him in a few fights, he offered Kirii a job on the spot, in unlicensed boxing. Jox Kai Von is popular on many Decados worlds, and in this strange alien, Hendric saw a potential cash cow.

Hendric had a good eye for profit. With some clever betting, and a few rigged fights, Kirii won Hendric so much money the Scraver could afford to stop cheating his boxers out of their money, and still make a decent income.To his credit, he did stop,since he wasn't actually a bad person. Less creditably, since even good persons need to make money, he found work for Kirii hurting people for the Scravers outside the ring as well as in it.
