Born in a town called Stoneridge to a widowed halfling rogue woman, her husband hung 3 months before Dark Star is born.  He grew up in the streets learning to pick locks and slip open windows from his mother.  Made the mistake of picking the pocket of an evil visiting warlord and was rescued from certain death by Shaggy who didn't like the odds of 3 Human to 1 young Halfling.  Since then Dark at the urging of his mother left Stoneridge and has followed Shaggy doing whatever he can for him to their mutual benefit.  Has a good heart but is even more taciturn than Shaggy which is unusual for a Halfling.
