Sick of the horrible weather Auris left Valdland to see the world, and experience the high seas. Training himself in the arts of navigation before leaving, he supported himself as an Acrobat and Duelist in the meantime in the local port. He then started seeing the world, putting his skills to practice with various privateers.

Looking for adventure and excitement, and needing to leave the last port quickly, after a disagreement over his responsibility for the death of a man in duel, he signed up his skills with Captain Nicolas after meeting him in a local inn and being impressed by his style.
