Hard-Working Engineer
John Frind is an engineer who's always cared about the job, not about money or prestige. He's very focused on the job, so he's not always noticing everything around him. He's very bright, at least when it comes to nuts and bolts. People... not so much. So he moved around a lot until he finally got fed up with that and decided to settle down on his next move. Instead of the Texas heat he was used to, he apparently ended up a little north of where he thought. But that was ok, the work was good, the actual site was always warm and filled with the hum of machines. He made a few friends, Bob Vernon chief among them. Over beers one night Bob told him he was having problems at home. John thought a great way to surprise his friend would be to get up early and be ready to help his friend with the home improvement project he must be having some troubles with. After all, as the motto says on the side of John's ball peen hammer, "If it ain't fixing, GET A BIGGER HAMMER" (a relic of his mercifully short wood burning hobby). Intensely loyal, John is nevertheless only concerned with things he can hold in his hands. Anything else either doesn't exist or it's somebody else's job.
