Ok so the movie starts out with Buddy (Will Ferrell) in an orphanage (everybody say awww). It's christmas and the nun says something like “let's hope for christmas you get a new mommy” she leaves. Then enters santa and Buddy stows away in his bag before santa leaves. Santa accidentally takes him to the north pole. ((whoops)) Oh yeah and guess who adopts the poor sucker once he gets to the north pole?? Bob Newhart. ((well actually his name is Papa Elf in here but yeah))
Skip 30 years and he's a full grown guy working with santa. He finds out he's human and then goes to find his real father. But before he does he finds out his dad is on the naughty list ((oh no)) Winds up in new york and starts stomping and crushing every building, whoops no that's godzilla...but seriously he shows up in new york to look for his dad. He finds out his dad is like scrooge incarnate or something..and he's married to someone who's almost the opposite. After a lot of fuss his dad lets him live in his house and tries to ruin buddy's christmas spirit by telling him he isn't an elf((that BASTARD)). Oh yeah and between that he meets the female of the movie Jovie (Zooey Deschanel) who has an awesome singing voice oh and he ruins mall santas for about 70 kids...yeah.
Anywho..that was supposed to be a small summary but it turned out rather larger then I had hoped. So here's an actual summary...As a baby, Buddy crawls into Santa’s toy bag and is whisked off to the North Pole, where he is raised as an elf. A misfit who grows to be three times the size of his elf family, Buddy ultimately heads to his birthplace of New York City to seek out his roots. Unfortunately, they turn out to be a "Scrooge"-like father and a cynical ten-year-old stepbrother who doesn’t believe in Santa. Worst of all, everyone seems to have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. But using his simple elf ways, Buddy sets out to single-handedly win over his family and save Christmas in New York, hoping to at last find his true place in the world.
ok so there it is a summary of elf. I have to say I loved the movie. Will ferrell was VERY good in it. ((oh yeah and I'm not capatalising ok because Ryan is a jack a$. Yep you heard me and he sucks.))
I really loved the scene where he ruins santa for the kids it was a great scene. Oh and the one where he is singing along with her in the shower...

So because he said I didn't actually review it here we go.
I really liked the movie. It had some great scenes ((Buddy singing with Jovie in the shower, Buddy finally figuring out that he was a human not an elf, and when Buddy practically killed some people in a snowball fight)) Oveall this movie was pretty good. It not only had stuff that kids could love but it also had stuff that adults could love. The actors were pretty good too, though his dad's wife kind of seemed too happy and nice to me. ((I think she was covering up some drug addiction....I jest I jes t:D )) Anyways all in all this was a good movie. With Will Ferrell being the best part of the movie. He was just too good.
I have to agreee with a lot of people saying that this movie will be the one that makes Will Ferrel a household name. I mean he's awesome in it, he has really evolved since his days in Saturday Night Live ((Old School (2003) Zoolander (2001) Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001) The Oblongs ((he was the voice of the dad)) (2001) Drowning Mona (2000) Dick 1999 Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) Austin Powers: International Man of Myster (1997) )) and those are just the ones I liked. Anyways he proved he was an awesome actor just within snl itself he played everything from a “happy” cheerleader to alex trebek ((Which was my favorite one of him)). And I can honestly say that I will look forward to his next movie...
