Ok, so DDO has some problems, and I probably didn’t do a good enough job describing the adrenalin you can have just running through a dungeon and having a giant cleaver come swinging out of the wall at your head.  But I don’t look at the problems as reasons not to play, I look at them as exciting new additions to the game just waiting to happen.

The game is getting better and better, and the combat is more dynamic than nearly any RPG MMO.  If you approach it as a standard MMO, the game will probably fall flat on its face in terms of your expectations.  And if you approach it as "now I can play D&D online!", it will similarly fail to pass muster.   DDO is better described as a D&D simulator.  It tries to let you perceive a small portion of the world of D&D through a first person lens.  It tries to mimic the physics of the D&D universe using the D&D rules as a foundation.  For me thats a good thing, I 'like' feeling like a hero struggling through and overcoming challenges. If you haven't given it a try yet, I recommend doing so, even if only on the 7 day free trial, if the last time you played it was before Module 2, give it another try!  Module 3 is coming out in October, which puts them at 1 module every 3rd month, and new dungeons seem to be scheduled to come out month now, which is pretty cool, especially as all the new content is free (so far).

As a side note:

I know some of you joined the Dndorks crew in the beginning only to have us on less and less until finally we didn’t play at all.  Sorry about that, but those who played DDO in the beginning can probably understand.  We are on regularly now though, so if you want to join us for some adventuring here and there, we’re on M-Th Pacific time around 6-8 Pacific and in the afternoons on the weekends.  If we’re not on, send one of us a tell via messenger and we’ll join you (The server we play on is Riedra still).
