"Tell your DM you'd like to do the laundry, ask him to describe the results. Repeat a few games until everyone in the party is letting you do their laundry. One day apologize for putting a red sock in the only female character's laundry or the paladin without laughing. From that point on whenever the DM introduces a new NPC, apologize again about the pink clothes just to make sure no one forgets it."

DDO: A Review Six Months (and 2 modules) In

I'm not giving them an easy pass, I still want to see much more out of a D&D MMO!

 UI

The UI still needs some work.  The more I play it, the more I find little things that I “want”, but didn’t realize were there.  I personally love the interface for City of Heroes, DDO is a far cry from that.  Still, DDO is very customizable, and with some heavy tweaking and keymap rebinding, I’ve gotten it to the point that DDO isn’t totally unmanageable.

Confusion
It still seems pretty easy to get confused in DDO.   What am I talking about?  Voicechat seems like a crutch used by DDO to avoid better solutions to informing members of the party whats going on.  I constantly hear or even am asking questions like “Where do we get the quest?” “What quest are we doing?” “Where do we go to get the reward?”  I walked someone through making a character, and I realized it can be pretty complicated.  I realize its easy if you don’t customize your character, but won’t “everyone” want to customize their character?

Character Customization

First of all, why are there only 3 facial customizations which amount to scars for the males?  Females are a bit better with some earring choices as well.  Surely there can be more ways to customize your character.  Now to be fair, equipment does do a good job of customizing a character, and the way better looking equipment becomes available at higher levels is nice.  But you could let the players know!  I mean many people think they’ll have the same looking equipment forever.

Spell Utility

Recently a few spells have made wizards more useful outside of combat, and I, as a person who likes wizards, am happy with that.  Still, there should be more!  Where is levitate?  Darkness and light?  More options with summoning spells?  Heck, I’d like to send my summoned pets as suicide agents to open chests and such when we’re deficient rogues.    How about illusion spells to get the group past humanoid opponents without fighting? Sigh….

Underwater Combat, Arial combat

Ok, so the game is more 3D than many MMOs, with ladders, cliffs, jumping puzzles.  Where are the flying stirges swooping at us?  Where are the kraken trying to pull us into the water and drowning us?  I’m not talking about having a model that “looks” like its flying but is really sitting there same as everything else.  I want an actual flying opponent.

Permanent Pets

Why don’t we have pets? Will we ever have them?  I can only hope that one day my ranger will have a pet and my wizard will have a familiar.  That would rock. J

Rope

I want to use my +35 jump check to get somewhere high, then click on rope to create a dangling quasi-ladder that other members of the party can climb up.  Is that too much to ask? Doesn't every person who plays D&D end up buying 50'+ rope? Rope is very important, and I think it would help the "adventurers" (those with high swim, tumble, jump, etc skills) show off their talents by helping the rest of the party to get places they couldn't otherwise get to.

I could keep coming up with ideas probably, so I'll end it here. :)
