Remanining Summary

Teamwork

There is a whole rules system for how your party can work together to gain special actions or bonuses.  This is really cool, and I can’t wait until our group has pulled together and done a concerted charge or something.

Your Identity

For those of us who like role-playing, these sections are both absolutely fantastic, and the hardest to make use of.  The PHBII provides extensive documentation giving ideas on how to cement your character’s personality.  From your class’s role in the party, to his personality, to her background, there are dozens of pages providing a lot of inspiration for role-players to build from.

Affiliations

You worry about gaining XP, you worry about accruing treasure, how often do you worry about making friends?  Sure a module might have said “give the party 10% cheaper rates” for buying from a merchant guild you helped, but there weren’t any D&D-based rules for it.  Affiliations provides a system for your character to amass friends and contacts that is a bit more organized than “they like you”.  I’m going to try and write up a document regarding them, specifically a few I want to use in our Eberron campaign.

Quick PC and NPC Creation

There is a whole section regarding building quick PCs and NPCs, which I think can be quite helpful for both DMs and players who need a quick character.

Final Impressions

What is my impression overall?  As you can probably tell from the tone in my writing, I love this book!  Heck, I’d be programming right now but I’d rather be writing about the book while I’m still really excited by it.  I think this book can help any group push the limits of their game, both in terms of game mechanics for those min-maxers out there, but also for the role-players.
